Flatboarding vs. Skiing

Ever since its debuted some ten+ years ago, people are still perplexed about the name “Flatboarding” for a “skiing style,”a term appears to be more relate to the snowboarding than skiing. I was perplexed too, maybe I made a mistake when I named it? Maybe I should name it “Flatskiing” instead of “Flatboarding”? Nevertheless, I did go back to find out the facts and the answer.

“Flatboarding”is a term I borrowed from my way of riding the snowboard—“press the flat base, the board runs straight, and press on the edges, the board turns [to edging side]—hence developed the “Flatboarding Theory”. Nevertheless, why call it“Flatboarding”for skiing?

In the US/North America, sliding on skis is called “skiing,” but slide on snowboards is called “riding”not “skiing,”why is that? Given that English is a partitioned language, everything needs its unique/different definition, “skiing a snowboard” is no-no, they need another name for it, but why “riding”?

In skiing, skiers have two skis, so they move their feet to control, maneuver, and balance, so to ski and to balance they move their feet first, and that's the essence of “skiing.”However, snowboarders don't have such luxury for independence leg movements as their two feet are bounded to the snowboard, they can only move their butts to control, maneuver, and balance their snowboards; the way they do it/snowboarding is like sitting on an invisible seat, hence “riding.”

這片又有powder,有bumps. 有陡，有石，當然也有在groom ,他在陡的地方，也可輕易易擧轉短彎

你的片硬要給人家看，你想看他詳細的片是要付錢。

Norman's“腦袋”—“無恥鐵齒”，“瞽盲不視”—問題大了，但是Norman是滑雪界的“無名小足”，他的“無知”是可以諒解，而你身為CSIA L2，認同norman's見解表示你跟他是“等級”的‧我不是說過你們倆個不過「五十步與百步」之分？“爬的高，跌的重”，你“腦袋”的問題更大‧可以想像你“腦袋”裡只剩下一遍“無恥的辱罵”，你“人如其言”。
