Chris fellow is psi alpine team according to the video. He dose not say it is a hop. Hop is from the middle of skis. Dolphins turn is not. Like snowboard jump can be a hop or Ollie. This looks like Ollie

Hey you are right! I didn't pay attention on those vedio clips. There is no official "dolphin turn" in PSIA. Chris Fellows might be the only one who teaches that techinique. We have "hop turn", and that's why I mistakenly thought that those vedio clips were hop turns.skier666 寫:Chris fellow is psi alpine team according to the video. He dose not say it is a hop. After googling and searching the dolphin turn technique, I found that it's more advanced than hop turn. Even though we know backward padelling, we practice that in mogul trails. This is really an exciting finding about the dolphin turn that can be used to practice the backward padelling on a groomed one.
I am just curious ... which country or where the dophin turn was originated?

This is the first I have heard dolphin turn. I am not sure it is useful for me beside as a drill. I have never seen people doing itsnowrider 寫:Hey you are right! I've seen people doing it while they were actually skiing, it looks more like a trick than a drill, and it is more like an absortion technique than a turning technique. Between ollies and back-pedalling, though Ollies are more stylish, nevertheless, with skis on the ground, back pedaling is more effective, better balancing, and less tiring, thus more graceful technique.skier666 寫:This is the first I have heard dolphin turn.
