No, that program just a gimmick. It takes at least 10 years to train a competent black diamond skier to ski everywhere in the mountains comfortably. Your CSIA’s 6 weeks program can only give people a piece of “paper,” no wonder you low-end CSIA instructors’ quality, as you said, are so low.

How long to train a person skiing black diamond runs all depends. To be able to ski down a black diamond run is not hard. To get down nicely with rhythm down a difficult black run is hard.

"Yes" is not a CSIA program , It's a Whistler program. They just encourage the students to take CSIA course. Canada needs a lot of ski instructors especially on holidays. IT's hard for general public to ski good, therefore to be a L1 L2 instructor is easy. They need cheap labor. The advantage of the system is to let those instructors to get into ski school and get trained by High end instructor so they can be a much better skiers. Whistler got the most L4 instructors across Canada. That's why there are more than 20 Chinese instructor get into the ski school of Whistler this year.They all want to get free lessons from L4.

No, she skied that route was not in racing mode, and that run was actually the first time she was on that route, due to the drought, that place hasn’t been opened for years. You can see she fumbled on choosing the tree line. And for $250 for sure you would just “bomb” down like those snowboarders, that is not a race nor skillful.

Mogul run is tough only because it is “physical” demanding not “skills”; the highest skill in skiing, imo, is “pure carve,” your L4 can pure carve but his 60+ years old legs won’t do the moguls, his/your style of mogul skiing use too much “knees,” see how long you’re going to last.

In practice for our coming meeting, I find out if I try rush I lost my “rhythm” and ski badly on bumps (that’s why I said Norman would never get there, he has no idea what a “rhythm” is), only when I slow down my extention, I can catch the “rhythm” of bumps and ski comfortably down. Thanks to your challenge, my bump run now is better than a week ago.

The condition on Eliie's should be more powdery than the video of your wife skiing there. Should be much tougher condition.

One day late? Alright, you may have just avoided the worst of this winter storm. It was forecasted “rain” today for South Lake Tahoe, and it turned out snowed all day, and the heavy precipitation, rain and snow, has yet to come through tonight, and snow will linger through Wednesday. Thursday cloudy, Friday sunny, and the weekend, snow resume.

I’ll ski with my wife on Thursday, so I’ll ski with you on Friday. (Are you alone?) We can meet at the entrance of Gunbarrel Express (chair lift) at 10am Friday. Gunbarrel Express is the only lift out of Cal Base heading up mountain, below is the ever famous “Gunbarrel,” you might want to check it out yourself, not sure about the moguls, but the snow going to be thick.
