A wedge christie is when you start your turn with your skis in a "V" shape (tips closer together than the tails) and on their inside edges.
Hold your hands in front of you, side by side with your palms facing the ground. Now, turn both hands so that the thumbs point more to the floor instead of at each other and so the tips of your other fingers get closer together. That is the position your skis get in for a very short period of time at the beginning of your turns.
Try it again. Hold your hands in front of you, side by side with your palms facing the ground. Now turn your left hand so that your little finger points to the floor and your thumb points straight up. At the same time, turn your right hand so that your thumb points to the floor and your little finger points straight up. This is the same movement we make for a parallel turn.
Can you skid sideways down a ski slope? Can you stop like an ice skater? If you can do these exercises, you can do parallel turns.
「Can you skid sideways down a ski slope? Can you stop like an ice skater? If you can do these exercises, you can do parallel turns. You are very close.」
:face (52):
:)
